Cincinnati Magazine Names Dojo Gelato “Best of the City”!

Best Cincinnati Gelato Dojo Gelato

Dojo Gelato has been chosen as Cincinnati’s best gelato by the editors of Cincinnati Magazine!  Here is what they had to say:

At Dojo Gelato in Findlay Market, owner Michael Christner makes small batches by hand using local ingredients. Porkopolis (maple gelato with candied bacon) and Lavender Honey are our faves, but we heard a businessman in a natty pinstripe suit declare that he had driven 10 miles out of his way for one scoop of their smoky, sexed-up Dutch Chocolate.

We are honored that our fresh, authentic gelato and original flavors have been recognized.  We would like to send a huge thank you to our friends and family, Neltner’s Farm, Herbs and Spice, Findlay Market, 3 Feet, Vine Street Interactive, Fox Paw Ridge Farm, Mark Bodenstein, Hunter Thomas of 20 Brix, Kroeger & Sons, Poeme, Dawson Belobrajdic, the local food blogging community, Adam Pearson, Take the CakeSoapbox Cincinnati, Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce, La Terza Artisan Coffee, the Hyde Park Farmers’ Market, Happen Inc., the Dojo team, and, most importantly, you, our customers for helping us achieve so much.

We are humbled to be a part of the “Best of the City,” a list that includes many of Dojo’s local favorites, like Riverside Korean, Slim’s, and Molly Wellmann’s cocktails. Many thanks to Cincinnati Magazine and you, our customers, for your support.

Sincerely,

Michael Christner
Owner, Dojo Gelato

Foodstuffs Goes Gaga for Dojo’s Cioccolato Caldo

Recently Foodstuffs visited Dojo for a taste of our cioccolato caldo with handmade marshmallows. We think we’re going to have to give our hot chocolate a slogan:  “Knee Buckling Delicious!”
I thought for a moment my knees may buckle. It was love at first drink. This was the best hot chocolate I’ve had. And I’m a fan of hot chocolate. I’m not a fly-by-night Swiss Miss drinker. I like the good stuff. I’ve drunk my way through France on hot chocolate, friends. But this had that beat. By a lot. And while I thought initially Michael had given me one marshmallow, he must have read my mind and loaded several into that little cup, because there was a thick, sugary (but not too sweet) cloud of melted marshmallow supporting a non-melted marshmallow. The chocolate was milky and rich, and since the drink is made with whole milk, those were intensified….”

Wine Me, Dine Me Visits Dojo

Some would say getting quirky with bacon is a bit cliched nowadays. After the bacon explosion, bacon bars and bacon bubble gum, when will America’s love for all things swine end? We don’t know. And we’re not worried about trends. As long as Cincinnati is digging on Porkopolis, we’ll happily be making it every Saturday down at Dojo. Thanks to Wine Me, Dine Me for the Porkopolis love.
